Inspiration to paint came to me at an early age when I was exposed to the works of the Old Masters. The paintings
of Rembrandt, Goya, Vermeer, Caravagio and others helped to formulate what I am as an artist today.
In all my paintings, whether it be still life, landscapes or portraits, the effect
of light becomes the driving force that emphasizes the subject matter I'm working with. Representational art has
always been my prime interest. I use texture, atmosphere, mood and emotion to enhance the subject matter, calling
this “Trompe L'oeil,” a french word for fool the eye. It's a kind of realism that makes you feel like you could
pick the objects off the painted canvas. Add the effect of light to that for “Trompe L'oeil and the effect of light.”
I invite you to view some of the paintings on this site with the hope that you can
begin to experience my style and the Trompe L'oeil...
